singer, musician and author . She sings traditional & composed folk music, playing 6 & 12-string guitars, dulcimer & autoharp.

As long as I've been a member of The Hamilton Guitar Club, I've always made sure to see Beverlie's feature night (which has become an anticipated annual event).   Her music strikes me as  genuine  and distinctly Canadian, folk music and brings feelings of nostalgia and hope. She brings a connection to those traditions that many of us at the HGA emulate in our own music at each meeting.  In performance, her press quotes put it best. "... She charms the audience.."   with a lovely voice, guitar playing and stories.

Check out Plains of Waterloo , and the other tunes and photos at this link, you'll see what I mean.

See you on Monday,

Mark

Hello HGA,

I hope you had a great summer of festivals and back yard barbecue jam sessions. It is time to take back that pile of empties, put away the shorts ( unless of course you are Alfie or Mike McGuire) and come out to guitar club for the First meeting and Social gathering.   We are booked every other Monday right on to Christmas and will have an excellent feature  performance each meeting following the premier,  beginning with Beverlie Robertson at the end of this month , Oct.28.
In other news, the residents of Blackadar have  demanded our prompt return forthwith.  They want us back, ...like.... now. So please let me know if you are interested in playing  6:45 to 7:45 at Blackadar  Palliative care centre in Dundas this Thursday.

This week, following Hamilton’s premier open mic session,

the HGA  is proud to present,.. the GRAND FINALE
The Amazing, talented and endearing,...
Hamilton Family

Over the last few years we have all watched the Hamilton Family grow in skill and develop some excellent guitar playing to go along with their terrific and distinctive vocal capabilities.  The influence of a loving and devoted musical family was very clear as I watched Sydney and Sarah enchant their jovial fans (myself included) at a show of their own.  This is going to be one memorable finale to the 2013 season.
Come out to have some drinks, shake some hands, play along with, and hear, your friends at the HGA for one last time before we say goodbye for the summer.
 See you Monday,
Mark

”I picked up the acoustic guitar late in life (early twenties), and it didn't take long to develop an aversion to the infernal plastic pick. I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by a group of musical friends with eclectic musical tastes before stumbling across the world of extraordinary fingerstyle guitar - I have never been the same! So, I began to write around 2002, and a couple of years later, I began to play my music live.”

Catch this vid of albert at the clubthere are excellent instrumentals available at his myspace page, (yes myspace, it still exists)

see you Monday,
